Simona’s Story

Simona’s love for advocacy started as early as high school in San Francisco.

She immersed herself in projects to help the underserved and better her community. Throughout high school she volunteered at the Boys and Girls Club of San Francisco where her interest in learning about the brain, development and trauma was sparked. This led her to travels to India where she witnessed first hand the brain’s reaction to trauma and its resilience.

Before attending college, Simona worked at the Canadian Consulate where she was part of the Consular team. Part of this job included assisting Canadians who were incarcerated in the United States which added to her drive to help people.

This experience pushed Simona to attend the University of San Francisco where she engaged herself in studies of the brain, development, abnormal psychology and trauma. During her time at University of San Francisco, she spearheaded the opening of Mariotto Resolutions, Inc.

Simona also spent this time becoming a Crisis Counselor at Crisis Text Line where she volunteered for two years. She continues this work and training regularly.

In 2015, she graduated USF with her Bachelor’s degree in psychology with an emphasis on trauma. Since then, she has worked diligently to help injured workers who are in pain and in need of someone to talk to. She has worked earnestly to ensure each and everyone is heard, taken care of and supported.

She is currently in the process of applying to Graduate Schools to further her knowledge and ability to help others.
